1990-களின் ஆரம்பத்தில், தமிழ்நாடு பாடத்திட்டம் மற்றும் போட்டித் தேர்வுகளுக்கு ஏற்ப நம்பகமானதும் எளிதில் புரிந்துகொள்ளக்கூடியதுமான பாடப் புத்தகங்களைப் பெறுவதில் மாணவர்கள் பெரிதும் சிரமப்பட்டனர். இந்த தேவையை உணர்ந்த சக்தி பதிப்பகம் நிறுவுனர்கள், கற்றலை எளிமைப்படுத்தும் புத்தகங்களை உருவாக்கும் நோக்கில் பயணத்தைத் தொடங்கினர்.

அனுபவமிக்க கல்வியாளர்களுடன் இணைந்து, தேர்வு முறையை மையமாகக் கொண்டு தெளிவாகவும் ஒழுங்காகவும் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட பாட வழிகாட்டி நூல்களை உருவாக்கினோம். குறுகிய காலத்திலேயே இந்நூல்கள் மாணவர்களுக்கும் ஆசிரியர்களுக்கும் பெரும் வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றன; இதனால் சக்தி பதிப்பகம் மாநிலம் முழுவதும் பரிச்சயமான பெயராக மாறியது.
