Vaali says he owes it to M.S.V.

Lyricist Vaali said that if he had secured a prominent place in the Tamil film world the credit should go to music director M.S. Viswanathan, who had patronised him beyond words could describe. Addressing a function after receiving the Dr. M.A. Chidambaram Chettiar Award, the film song writer from Srirangam said that though in the beginning M.S.V. rejected him as the ground that his songs were not up to the mark, after a few years he gave him an opportunity and went on to score music for over 4000 songs. “Of course, I used to get income for my songs before I ganged up with MSV. But I started paying income tax after writing songs for MSV.” The Dr. A.C. Muthiah award for young entrepreneur went to M.P.  Ramachandran, Chairman and M.D. of Jothi Laboratories. The Dr. Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar award was given to Tamil scholar S.V. Shanmugam, who worked in Annamalai University for 37 years.
