28 : Tennis player Ankita Raina has been included in the government’s Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).She has displayed good form this season both in the Fed Cup and the professional circuit. Ankita recently broke into the top-200, reaching a career-best 197 in the WTA rankings, becoming the third Indian to do so. Before Ankita, Sania and Nirupama Vaidyanathan have made it to the top-200.

Mohamed Salah crowned PFA Player of the Year

Liverpool and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah was named Player of the Year by England’s Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).Salah was rewarded for his performances which have yielded 41 goals in all competitions since joining from AS Roma last year. Salah has become the first person in Premier League history to claim three Player of the Month awards in the same season.

Most Capped Women’s ODI Cricketer

Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj has become the most capped player in women’s One-Day International (ODI) cricket.She achieved the feat (192 matches) during the first ODI against the England women at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Mithali surpassed England’s Charlotte Edwards, who retired in September 2017 with 191 ODIs under her belt.
