The former and first finance minister of Chhattisgarh, Ramchandra Singh Deo died on 20th July, 2018. He served as the Minister of Water Resources before Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in 2000. The first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Ajit Jogi, chose him as the minister with key portfolios, including finance, commercial tax and planning.

Right to Services Act repealed in Punjab
The state govt of Punjab dissolved Right to Service Commission which was created by the former SAD-BJP govt under Punjab Right to Services Act of 2011. The act has been replaced by Punjab Transparency and Accountability in Delivery of Public Services Act, 2018. The Right to Service (RTS) Act was set up by former Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal to provide citizen services through Sewa Kendras.

‘Paudhagiri’ campaign launched in Haryana

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched the ‘Paudhagiri’ campaign, aimed at increasing the green cover in the state. Under this campaign, 22 lakh students from class 6 to 12 of all government and private schools in Haryana will plant a sapling each during three months of monsoon. The student will get Rs 300 per year for 3 years for looking after a sapling planted by him or her.

Chandrababu Naidu to launch “Anna canteen”

Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu launched Anna canteens in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh as a tribute to father-in-law and Telugu Desam Party founder NTR. A total of 203 such canteens will come up across the state’s 110 municipalities in phases. NGO Akshaya Patra will manage state-run canteens and the scheme will reach out to over 2 lakh people per day.

CM approves yatra scheme

The Delhi government would send 77,000 senior citizens along with one adult attendant each on all-expenses paid pilgrimages every year. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approved the Mukhyamantri Tirth yatra Yojana. The government would also pay for one attendant over the age of 18 years to accompany each senior citizen. The pilgrims would be selected through a draw of lots.

WB announces ‘one person, one car’ policy

In an attempt to cut the costs incurred by the state over travel expenses of ministers and bureaucrats, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the ‘one person, one car’ policy. Further mandating economy class travel in low-cost airlines for all domestic air trips, she added that foreign travels will be sanctioned only by her.

B.Sriram resigns as SBI MD

SBI managing director B. Sriram has resigned from his post after being appointed as the chief executive of IDBI Bank. The news assumes significance amid reports that Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is weighing acquiring a majority stake in the debt-ridden IDBI Bank. Sriram is the longest-serving public sector bank MD and has wide experience, including in stressed assets management.

Telangana allocates 15 Cr for Bonalu festival

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao instructed officials to release Rs. 15 crore for organising Bonalu festival. Bonalu is an annual festival of Telangana celebrated in twin cities Hyderabad and Secunderabad and other parts of Telangana. It is celebrated in the month of Ashada Masam, in July/August. The current governor of Telangana is E. S. L. Narasimhan.

‘Chief Minister of the Year’ award

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was conferred the ‘Chief Minister of the Year’ award for her remarkable work in e-governance. The award was given to her at the 52nd Skoch Summit held in New Delhi. Efforts of the chief minister and state government were appreciated in implementing the prime minister’s Digital India campaign for benefitting the common man.

Rajasthan ranked No. 1 in water conservation

Rajasthan has been ranked first by the NITI Aayog among all states after it registered a significant increase in groundwater level due to the water conversation structures built under Chief Minister’s Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan. The state also witnessed an increase of 81% in irrigation capacity. As many as 4 lakh structures were built in Rajasthan in the last three years.

Jammu & Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti Resigns

Jammu & Kashmir’s Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti submitted her resignation to the Governor after BJP announced to pull out of an alliance with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The reason for the pullout was failure to control the situation in the state and meet its promises. BJP’s General Secretary Ram Madhav also called for Governor’s rule in Jammu & Kashmir.

New scheme by MP Chief Minister

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the state will give ?2 lakh to poor families whose heads die before the age of 60. He further said that in case the head of the family dies in an accident, the state will give ?4 lakh to the families. He also announced waiver on previous electricity bills.

Andhra Pradesh declared open-defecation free

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has declared the state open-defecation free after achieving the goal of constructing 2.77 lakh individual toilets. “We’ve completed the task of constructing toilets but they have to be used by every individual. For that, the administration has to take up some awareness programmes,” Naidu said. Notably, the state’s urban areas were declared ODF in 2016.

Haryana baned single-use water bottles

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Haryana government has banned single-use water bottles in all government offices in the state. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that a five-point programme would be implemented for maintaining ecological balance in Haryana. It will include plantation of 20 lakh saplings and using LED bulbs.

‘My MP Rojgar Portal’ launched

Madhya Pradesh CM, Shivraj Singh Chauhan launched the “My MP Rojgar Portal” in Bhopal under ‘Pahal’, which is a Mukhyamantri Career Counselling programme. This portal will provide jobs to youth as per their skills, interests and educational qualifications. The portal has been developed under Youth Empowerment Mission by the Madhya Pradesh Skill Development and Employment Generation Board.

H D Kumaraswamy sworn in as Karnataka CM

JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy has been sworn in as Karnataka’s 24th chief minister. This will be Kumarawamy’s second term as the chief minister of Karnataka since 2007, when he last held the post for 20 months. G Parameshwara, the state Congress chief and the party’s Dalit face, was sworn in as the deputy chief minister.

Bhosle to be conferred with Banga Bibhushan

Asha Bhosle will be conferred with the highest civilian award of West Bengal, the Banga Bibhushan, by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She has done playback singing for over a thousand Bollywood movies & has sung in over 20 Indian & foreign languages. Bengal government in 2011 instituted Banga Bibhushan award to recognize the services of eminent personalities from their respective fields.

Amit Khare appointed as new I&B secretary

Senior bureaucrat Amit Khare has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Khare, a 1985-batch IAS officer, is at present serving in his cadre state Jharkhand. He had in June 1996 reportedly exposed the multi-crore fodder scam, involving the then Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad. He will take over the charge from incumbent NK Sinha.

Yeddyurappa resigns as Karnataka CM

The Karnataka government led by B.S. Yeddyurappa resigned before facing a crucial trust vote in the assembly. The floor test was to be conducted after Congress-JD (S) alliance claimed the right to form the government on the basis of the 117 seats it had. BJP with 104 seats, was eight short of the majority-mark of 111.

Uttarakhand Cabinet held meeting in a boat

The Uttarakhand Cabinet organised a meeting in a boat named Marina on the Tehri Reservoir. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat was present for the cabinet meeting. Notably, a cabinet meeting was held outside the capital of the state for the first time ever. Famous Tehri Dam is located on the river Bhagirathi.

Yeddyurappa takes oath as the CM of Karnataka

BS Yeddyurappa of Bharatiya Janata Party took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. This comes after the Supreme Court refused to stay state Governor Vajubhai Vala’s decision to invite BJP, which fell short of the majority mark, to form the government. Yeddyurappa has been given 15 days to prove BJP’s majority.

Gujarat Governor given additional charge of MP

Gujarat Governor Om Prakash Kohli was given the additional charge of Madhya Pradesh while the state’s Governor Anandiben Patel is on leave. Patel was appointed Madhya Pradesh Governor in January after she resigned as Gujarat’s Chief Minister in 2016 citing her 75-year age. She had replaced Kohli who had been handling the additional charge of Madhya Pradesh from August 2016.

Nirmal Singh elected JK Assembly speaker

BJP legislator & former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh has been elected as the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Singh, who is an MLA from Billawar constituency in Jammu region, was elected as the Speaker by a voice vote in a one-day special session of the J&K Assembly. Singh defeated Congress MLA from Bandipora, Usman Majeed.

Arunachal’s biggest solar plant inagurated

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the state’s biggest solar power plant at Energy Awareness Park. The plant, with a capacity of one megawatt, was commissioned on April 1 at an estimated investment of Rs 8.50 crore. With the commissioning of the solar plant, import of energy from other states will reduce considerably.

Sushma to chair session on Act East Policy

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will be chairing an interactive session on Act East Policy in New Delhi. Chief Ministers of 8 North Eastern states – Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura have been invited to attend this meeting. They will be accompanied by senior officials from the States who deal with policy issues related to the subject.

Maha launched mobile weather information app

Maharashtra Chief Minister launched ‘MahaVedh’, a mobile application which provides weather-related information to farmers. The application will provide real-time information on temperature, humidity and a forecast for 15 days. The application will also provide forecasts of lightning.

MT Vasudevan Nair wins ONV Literary Award

Legendary writer M T Vasudevan Nair has been selected for the ONV Literary Award instituted by the by the ONV Cultural Academy. The award carries Rs 3 lakh. The ONV award for young promising writer has gone to ‘Amma urangunnilla’, a poetry collection by Anuja Akathoottu.The awards were presented by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

‘Go to Village’ mission launched in Manipur

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh launched ‘Go to Village’ mission throughout the state of Manipur. The mission was launched on May 2 in 60 villages of all the 60 Assembly constituencies. The mission is aimed at identifying the eligible and deserving beneficiaries in every corner of the state and delivering government services at their doorstep.

Kavinder Gupta is new deputy CM of J&K

Former Jammu and Kashmir speaker Kavinder Gupta took oath as a minister in the Mehbooba Mufti government. Gupta took oath as the deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, replacing BJP’s Nirmal Singh, who will now become the assembly speaker. Kavinder Gupta is a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Gandhinagar constituency in Jammu district.

India’s longest serving chief minister

Pawan Chamling has created history by surpassing the record of former communist ruler of West Bengal, Jyoti Basu, as the longest serving chief minister in the country.Chamling became the chief minister of Sikkim on December 12, 1994, and has ruled the tiny Himalayan state ever since. Chamling joined politics in 1973, and was elected to the Sikkim assembly for the first time in 1985.

Kerala CM launched Pravasi Pension Scheme

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan launched Pravasi pension scheme.The scheme gives those hailing from Kerala but living outside the state or country, a pension of 2,000 a month. People over the age of 60 years are eligible for the pension. The scheme is not applicable for state and central government employees.

ADB to give ` 1,700 crore aid to U’khand

The Asian Development Bank has agreed to give an aid of Rs 1,700 crore to Uttarakhand.The aid will be given for the creation of infrastructural facilities, sewer treatment plants and water supply facilities in urban areas of Uttarakhand. This was conveyed to Chief Minister of Uttrakhand by the country director of ADB’s India Regiment Mission.

2% quota for Sports persons in govt jobs

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced 2% reservation in state government jobs for sportspersons.Rao extended this sporting gesture while felicitating a group of 18 members, who participated in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast. Currently 2% seats in educational institutions were reserved for sportspersons.

Pilgrimage train flagged off from Sambalpur

A special pilgrimage train for senior citizens, under the ‘Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana’, has been flagged off from Sambalpur station by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.The train will take senior citizens to Shirdi, Nasik and Trimbakeshwar during the seven-day tour. The Odisha government has signed an MoU with the IRCTC for the pilgrimage plan.

Himachal Pradesh celebrated its 71st foundation day with much fanfare and gaiety. Several cultural events were organized across the state. It may be recalled that the hill state came into existence after the merger of 30 odd princely states in 1948. Andhra Pradesh to get happiness department

The Andhra Pradesh government will soon constitute a Happiness Commission that will take up a series of programmes to promote “happiness” in the state.The commission, which will work under the department of planning, will be headed by Chief Minister. AP became the second state in the country to introduce an exclusive ministry for happiness in April 2017. Madhya Pradesh is the first state.

Fast-track court to try drug cases in Manipur

Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh inaugurated a special court at Cheirap Court Complex in Imphal to try drug-related cases.The fast-track court will facilitate the speedy trial of offences relating to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Similar court to try Crime Against Women was also inaugurated by the Chief Minister on June 27 last year.

Tripura launches state version of PMKVY

8 : Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has launched the state component of Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) in Agartala.He has assured that the target to give training to more than 1 lakh 16,000 youths by 2020 will be achieved. Tripura is the first state in the country to implement pilot project for accreditation for skilled candidates.

Shimla got its 1st grid-connected solar plant

Himachal Pradesh (HP) Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated the first grid-connected solar power plant in Shimla having a capacity of 35 KW, installed on the rooftop of the Department of Environment, Science and Technology.The power generated by the solar plant would be consumed by the Department building. The remaining power would be sold to the HP State Electricity Board Limited.

Sikkim will give pension to organic farmers

Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling announced monthly pension of 1000 rupees for farmers engaged in organic farming in the state.Sikking government has banned sale and consumption of non-organic agricultural and horticultural products. Organic farming doesn’t involve the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Sikkim is the first fully organic state in the country.

‘Rupashree’ scheme launched in West Bengal

The West Bengal government has rolled out Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s dream project ‘Rupashree’ which provides one-time financial support to the marriages of poor women.b ‘Rupashree’ scheme follows the chief minister’s ambitious ‘Kanyashree’ project which has drawn global applause. Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 25,000 will be credited to her bank account before her marriage.

Yogi inaugurated India’s longest elevated road

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a 10.3 km long Hindon Elevated Road, touted to be the longest elevated road in the country.It will be connecting Raj Nagar Extension in Ghaziabad to UP Gate, shortening an hour-long journey to just 18 minutes. The entire stretch of the Hindon Elevated Road is built on 228 single-pier pillars.

Mission Sambhav launched in Assam

Asia’s largest tulip garden in Srinagar opens

Kashmir‘s Tulip Garden in Srinagar was opend on March 25. The garden is situated on the foothills of Zabarwan range in Srinagar. The garden was conceived, conceptualized and created by then Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad, in 2006-07. In 2014, it was declared as the 2nd best tulip garden in the world by World Tulip Summit Society.

Malik gets additional charge of Odisha

Bihar governor Satya Pal Malik got additional charge of Odisha after S C Jamir completed his five-year term. Chief Justice of Orissa High Court administered the oath of office to the Governor. Mr Jamir has earlier served as Chief Minister of Nagaland for five times, was a union deputy minister in the cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru and governor of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa.

Delhi launched app to find singing talent

The Delhi government launched a mobile app called ?Delhi‘s Date with Democracy?. It‘s aim is to allow applicants from all parts of the city to showcase their talent. ?There is no age limit and interested candidates can start sending their entries in both categories- singing and dancing, from tomorrow onwards,? Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.

Global digital summit to begin in Kochi

The Kerala government is organising a two-day global digital summit from March 22 to develop a roadmap to make the state a hub for digital innovation and investment. The theme of the event is ?Towards a Digital Future?. The event titled `# Future‘ to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kochi is expected to be attended by 2000 delegates.

IOC, Tata Motors flag off hydrogen fuel bus

IndianOil Corporation Ltd and Tata Motors have launched the trial demonstration of the country‘s first hydrogen fuel cell bus. The project is being executed with financial support from the Department of Science & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology and the Ministry for New and Renewable Energy. The vehicle will be fuelled at the hydrogen dispensing facility at IndianOil.

Karnataka flag unveiled

The Karnataka Chief Minister unveiled the State flag (nada dhwaja) for Karnataka. The yellow-white-red flag has the State emblem ?Gandaberunda? at the centre. If approved by the Centre, Karnataka will be the second State to have a flag after Jammu and Kashmir. The proposal will be now sent to the Union Home Ministry for approval since a State has no powers to announce its own flag.

Women SHGs to be trained in making LED lights

Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat launched a programme for women self-help groups at Thano. The 5-day programme named LED Gram Light Training programme will train 50 women from 10 SHGS in making LED bulbs, tubelights and chandeliers and help them stand on their own feet. It will boost the sale of local products and will also help in stoping sale of Chinese items of home decor.

Neiphiu Rio to be new Nagaland CM

Senior NDPP leader Neiphiu Rio was appointed the new chief minister of Nagaland by Governor P B Acharya. The governor said he had received letters of support in Rio‘s favour from 12 legislators of the BJP, one letter from the JD(U) and another from an Independent MLA, besides the 18 legislatures of the NDPP. The new ministry will be sworn in on March 8.

Biplab Deb to be Tripura’s Chief Minister

The Bharatiya Janata Party has named the party‘ State president Biplab Kumar Deb as the chief ministerial candidate for Tripura. Jishnu Devvarma, a member of the royal family there, has been named for Deputy Chief Minister. Mr. Deb will soon meet Governor Tathagata Roy to stake claim. The swearing-in ceremony is likely to be held on March 8.

Conrad Sangma to be next CM of Meghalaya

National People‘s Party (NPP) President Conrad Sangma will be the new chief minister of Meghalaya. NPP came out as the second largest party with 19 seats in the recently held elections which threw a hung verdict. Sarma has informed that there will be no deputy chief minister in the new government. He will replace congress leader Mukul Sangma.

Modi launches Amma two-wheeler scheme

PM Modi kickstarted the subsidised Amma two-wheeler scheme meant for working women, on the occasion of former Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s 70th birth anniversary.As part of the scheme, every beneficiary in the state of Tamil Nadu will be given 50% of the cost of a two- wheeler or a grant of ?25,000. Each year, one lakh working women would be covered under this scheme.

J’khand govt push for SHGs manufacturing pads

The Jharkhand government will purchase sanitary napkins from SHGs for distribution among schoolgirls, Chief Minister Raghubar Das has said.Government had during the recent budget session taken this decision to empower women working in SHGs. Andhra Pradesh’s Chandrababu Naidu is the richest Chief Minister in India with declared assets worth over ?177 crore, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) stated.Naidu is followed by Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu with assets worth over ?129 crore and Punjab’s Amarinder Singh with ?48 crore. Tripura’s Manik Sarkar with ?26 lakh is the CM with lowest declared assets.

Goa to launch bike ambulances in the state

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is planning to launch 20 bike ambulances to deal with casualties in the state’s tourism belt.The ambulances will be equipped with basic life-saving equipment and two oxygen cylinders to serve as rapid service at places where four-wheeler ambulances cannot reach.A total of 100 bike ambulances will be introduced in the next six months.

Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh launched the release of benefits under ‘Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojana’.It is aimed at the inclusive growth of the distressed sections of the society. He appealed to the state’s debt-ridden farmers not to commit suicide.

Int. Dam Safety conference held

India will host the International Dam Safety Conference – 2018 at Thiruvananthapuram on January 23-24, which will be inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.The conference will be presided by Arjun Ram Meghwal. Dam safety conferences were organised as an annual event under the Dam Safety Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) project.

Anandiben to be next Governor of MP

20 : Former Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel has been named the next Madhya Pradesh Governor.She replaces Om Prakash Kohli, who has additional charge of the office of MP Governor along with the office of Gujarat Governor. In 2016, she resigned as CM on the ground that she was completing 75 years so decided to step down in keeping with the party’s tradition of age criterion.

Odisha launches MMKSJ

On January 15, 2018, Odisha State Government announced ‘Mukshyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Jojana’ (MMKSJ), under which artists from across the state will get a monthly assistance of Rs 1200.This scheme of giving Rs 1200 per month as artist assistance was announced by Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik. Around 50000 artists across Odisha will be benefited from this scheme.

Common card for bus, metro rides: Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a common card for rides on public buses and the metro.Delhi is the first city in the country to have a common mobility card, which can at resent be used on 200 DTC and 50 cluster buses plying on different routes, apart from metro trains. It will be operational in all DTC and cluster buses from April 1, 2018.

WB Unveils Official Emblem of Government

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unveiled the official emblem of the state government, which was recently approved by the centre.The logo highlights the Ashoka emblem on the top with the theme of “Biswa Bangla” at the centre. Ms Banerjee has also contributed to the design of the emblem. This new logo will be used in all government documents, including government letterheads.

HP govt to set up Gudiya helpline

Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said the government would set up ‘Gudiya helpline’ for reporting crime against women.They have adopted the policy of zero tolerance.Special women cells would be created in the state to deal with crime against women. ’Gudiya’ is a nickname given to the 16-year-old victim of rape and murder in Kotkhai town. The incident took place in 2017.

Assam inaugurates skill dev. centres

With an aim to promote skill development in northeast India, the centre and the states have been rolling out various projects. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated various skill development centres across the state. Sonowal recently inaugurated around 249 skill centres in the state to impart vocational training to the native youth and help them become financially independent.

Int. kite festival begins in Gujarat

The international kite festival which attracts kite flyers from across the country and the world began on Sunday in Ahmedabad. The international kite festival was inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at Sabarmati Riverfront. The state government-sponsored festival will culminate on January 14, which is celebrated as Uttarayan (Makar Sankranti).

Goa to ban plastic

Goa will ban PVC-based plastic from May 30, and no plastic packaging will be allowed in the State from December 19. Speaking at a public function in the city, he also said that littering would be made a punishable offence soon. Manohar Parrikar is Chief Minister of Goa.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has laid foundation stones for more than 100 projects worth ` 700 crore in Nalanda district as part of his state-wide “Vikas Samiksha Yatra”.At Chamera village in Ekangarsarai block, Mr. Kumar dedicated to the public 132 projects worth ` 97.63 crore. Vijay Rupani becomes CM of Gujarat

Vijay Rupani was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat state.Governor Om Prakash Kohli administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy to 21 ministers including Mr. Rupani and his deputy Nitin Patel.Along with Mr. Rupani as Chief Minister and Nitin Patel as his Deputy, a total of 19 ministers nine of them in cabinet rank and 10 MoS were sworn in.

Jairam Thakur to be the CM of Himachal

Five-time legislator Jairam Thakur will be the new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. The decision was taken after Prem Kumar Dhumal, whom BJP had named as its prospective Chief Minister before the elections pulled out of the race. Thakur is a veteran politician who served as Rural Development and Panchayati Raj minister in Dhumal’s government from 2008 to 2012.

Dhinakaran wins RK Nagar by-polls

AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran has won the RK Nagar by-polls by a margin of 40,707 votes.The RK Nagar constituency went to polls on December 21, necessitated by the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa in December last year.The election was earlier scheduled on April 12, but was cancelled following an alleged vote-for-cash scam.

Vijay Rupani Remains Gujarat CM

Vijay Rupani will continue as chief minister of Gujarat and Nitin Patel as his deputy chief minister.The BJP had won 99 seats, only seven more than it needed for a majority to form the government. 17 : Meghalaya became the first state in India to operationalise a law that makes social audit of government programmes and schemes.Chief Minister Mukul Sangma launched ‘The Meghalaya Community Participation and Public Services Social Audit Act, 2017’, at a national convention in Shillong.A social audit facilitator will be appointed to conduct the audit directly with the people.

Sukharanjan Sengupta passes away

Veteran journalist Sukharanjan Sengupta died in Kolkata due to old age-related health problems.Sengupta had worked for Bengali dailies Jugantar and Ananda Bazar Patrika in his long career spanning over six decades.West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed grief at Sengupta’s death and remembered his reportage of the 1971 Bangladesh liberation war.

Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar will soon launch India’s ‘first’ mobile food testing laboratory.The vehicle is equipped to conduct on-the-spot tests to check the food quality & will also check the hygiene level of water. The results can be received within 15 minutes.The mobile lab will do away with need to get the food samples to the FDA laboratory near Panaji for tests.

Tendu leaf bonus festival inaugurated

The Tendu leaf bonus festival kicked off in Chhattisgarh, and Chief Minister Raman Singh distributed bonus to the tendu leaf collectors of Bastar and Bijapur.The 10-day festival began from the Bijapur district.In addition to increasing the tendu leaves collection rate from Rs 1800 to Rs 2500 per sack, Mr Singh also announced a bonus to the collectors.

Odisha launches Fish Pond Yojana

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the ‘Fish Pond Yojana’. Aim of this scheme is to boost fish production in Odisha. The scheme has been launched with a budgetary provision of Rs 96 crore. Under the scheme, additional 2200 hectare of freshwater aquaculture farming will be created, for which farmers will be given 50% financial assistance from state government.

Assam to celebrate ‘Lachit Divas’

Maharashtra’s to Curb Childhood Obesity

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a new initiative against childhood obesity in Pune. Under this initiative, schools will be given Body Mass Index (BMI) dialler, through which children will be able to know their BMI. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), India is projected to be the second-largest country with childhood obesity by 2025.

SEBI imposes fine on Gujarat CM family

SEBI has penalised 22 entities for involvement in manipulative trading. One of these 22 entities is Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani’s Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) that was found to be involved in manipulative trading through a listed firm called Sarang Chemicals. Mr. Rupani’s firm has been asked to pay a Rs 15 lakh fine within 45 days.

Urdu as 2nd Official Language: Telangana

11 : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao declared Urdu as the state’s second official language. Every office in the state will now have an Urdu speaking officer. According to the CM, the demand to make Urdu a second language had been there for a long time.

Mascot released for AIBA Championship

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and BFI president Ajay Singh released the championship’s official logo and anthem. The championship will be held from November 19 to 26. The official mascot, named Guppy, is a female version of Assam’s one-horned rhino. The World Championship’s official anthem is ‘Make Some Noise’. It is composed by Shaan and rendered by renowned singer Sunidhi Chauhan.

Assam CM launched 647 Schemes

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal rolled out 647 schemes entailing an investment of Rs 24.57 crore for development of the world’s largest river island Majuli. Out of these, 448 schemes under MGNREGA involved Rs 21.90 crore and 199 schemes under 14th Finance Commission have an outlay of Rs 2.67 crore, it added. Majuli is a river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam.

Assam launches “Assam Darpan” portal

Assam Chief Minister launched a web portal ‘Assam Darpan’ where details of government schemes and projects would be available to the people. The platform has been developed as a part of the Digital India Programme. In the first phase, progress indicators of 15 government schemes will be available.
