Highest allocation for state

The Centre has allocated the highest labour budget – a whopping

5,300 crore – to Tamil Nadu under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA job guarantee scheme for the current financial year. The labour budget agreed to by the MoRD is 3790 person days for the state, which works out to 5,300 crore in monetary terms and is more than one-sixth or 16 per cent of the budgetary outlay of  33000 crore for the entire country to be spent under MGNREGA. What clinched such a massive allocation is the states ability to implement the scheme with a raw material component. Since the better part of the fund was used for payment of wages, the state generated the highest of employment in the country.
