Centre affirms financial aid for Karaikal airport : CM

The Centre has promised financial support to set up a new airport at Karaikal, once the Puducherry territorial government finds the necessary land, said Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy. Accompanied by senior members of his Cabinet, Narayanasamy called on PM Narendra Modi, Union Minister Arun Jaitley and Ashok Gajapathi Raju to submit a memorandum seeking a financial package for the UT. This included walver of Rs. 2,117 crore legacy loan (along with interest of Rs. 1,300 crore) which the Home Ministry has been rejecting for a long time and Rs. 118 crore flood relief fund assured by the Central committee after spot inspection.
