Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra to reach Madurai

The Jan Chetna Yatra led by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani is scheduled to reach Madurai an route to Kerala on Oct. 27. Muralidhara Rao, one of the general secretaries of the party, told reporters that this leg of the yatra would begin after a two-day break for Deepavali Mr. Advani would address a public meeting at Madurai. In Tamil Nadu, the Yatra would cover 13 Assembly segments in three districts. To a question on the party’s stand on the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, Mr. Rao admitted that it had not taken a conclusive stand. We are not totally opposed to such plants. But, our stand a that the apprehension of the people in the Kudankulam region is genuine and it is imperative for the govt. to alloy their fears.
