PSLV bags first Australian order

The Indian PSLV launcher has bagged its first order from Australian startup. Fleet Space Technologies, an IoT (Internet of Things) startup, said that its first 10-kg nanosatellite Centauri I would fly to space on a PSLV. The company is planning a series of 10-kg nanosatellites about the size of a shoebox to enable low-cost connectivity for agriculture, logistics, mining sectors.

Hamburg to host 2018 Global Wind Summit

The first edition of the Global Wind Summit will be held in Hamburg, Germany from September 25-28, 2018. The event will provide a platform for experts from across the globe to discuss innovative and green technologies for harnessing wind energy making. India is the fourth largest country after China, US, and Germany in terms of wind energy installation capacity at around 33 GW.

Niti Aayog and ABB India join hands

ABB India & Niti Aayog have inked a pact to help India reap benefits of new technologies including robotics & artificial intelligence. The two institutions signed a Statement of Intent to work together in preparing key sectors of the economy for digitalisation, artificial intelligence, robotics & industrial automation. The initiative also covers the fast-growing segment of electric mobility.

India test-fired BrahMos supersonic cruise

India has successfully test-fired the Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a test range along the Odisha coast. Trial was conducted to validate its “life extension” technologies developed for the first time in India by DRDO and team BrahMos. The successful test will result in huge savings of replacement cost of missiles held in the inventory of the Armed Forces.

ISA to create ecosystems for startups

International Solar Alliance (ISA) will create ecosystems for startups in solar innovations by enabling incubation, partnerships, access to finance and standards.The task force is being chaired by SoftBank Group Corp. Chairman & CEO Masayoshi Son. This is a private sector-led task force under ISA to promote innovation in the areas such as solar finance, technologies and applications.

NITI Aayog launched Atal New India Challenge

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under the NITI Aayog launched the Atal New India Challenge on April 26.Under the Atal New India Challenge, AIM will invite prospective innovators/MSMEs/start-ups to design market-ready products. Applicants showing capability, intent and potential to productize technologies will be awarded grants up to ` 1 crore.

DRDO gets ‘Most Informative Pavilion’ award

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has received the ‘Most Informative Pavilion’ award in the ‘Pride of India Expo’. The event was organized as part of the 105th Indian Science Congress (ISC) in Manipur. The DRDO participated in the expo showcasing cutting-edge indigenous defence technologies with over 150 exhibits and models from 18 of its laboratories.

Krishi Unnati Mela kicked off in Delhi

The three-day annual Krishi Unnati Mela began in New Delhi with a focus on doubling farmers‘ income. The objective of the event is to create awareness among farmers about the latest agriculture-related technological developments. During the mela, latest agriculture and allied sector technologies will be displayed at more than 800 stalls.

Cabinet approved India-Iran MoU on health

16 : Cabinet has given its ex-post facto approval for the MoU b/w India & Iran on cooperation in the field of Health & Medicine. The MoU also covers the exchange experience in training of medical doctors and other health professionals. It also includes regulation of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and cooperation in the field of medical research, new technologies and knowledge-based initiatives.

BSNL signs pact with Japan’s NTT AT

BSNL & Japan’s NTT AT along with their Indian partner Virgo Corps, have signed an agreement to collaborate in developing futuristic technologies.The companies would collaborate in futuristic technologies such as artificial intelligence / IoT& jointly create a 5G test bed. Agreement is in line with the vision of PM Modi & Japanese PM Shinzo Abe to collaborate on next generation technologies.
