Govt to set up apex cybercrime center

To deal with cyber crimes such as financial frauds, circulation of communal & pornographic contents, the Union Home Ministry is planning to set up an apex coordination center.The apex centre – Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) would be set up in Delhi. It would coordinate with state governments & UTs & closely monitor cyberspace & social media with due emphasis on vernacular content.

Govt to set up social media hubs

Information & Broadcasting Ministry has planned to set up a Social Media Communication Hub that would help it keep a tab on trending news in districts.Under the project, media persons would be employed in each district to be the eyes & ears of govt & provide real-time updates from the ground. They would also take people’s feedback on govt’s policies & follow the news trending in their areas

IFFI to be inaugurated in Goa

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was inaugurated in Goa. The opening and closing ceremonies at IFFI-2017 are being live-streamed on YouTube, Facebook & Periscope of the main Social Media Platforms. The festival will be presenting 195 films from over 82 countries of which there will be 10 World Premieres, 10 Asian and international premieres.

Saudi Arabia recognizes Yoga as Sport

The Saudi Arabian government has approved the practice of yoga as a sports activity. This news came from a social media post of Nouf Marwaai, founder of the Arab Yoga Foundation in the Saudi kingdom. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has recognized the practice of Yoga as an approved sport, which can be practiced freely there.

Twitter doubles length of display name

Twitter has more than doubled its count for users’ display names from 20 to 50 characters. It comes days after the social media giant ended the iconic 140-character tweet limit. The change comes as a relief to many users who have bigger names or want to add colour to their names.

Facebook India MD Umang Bedi Resigns

In just over a year of joining Facebook as India MD, Umang Bedi has resigned from his position at the social networking giant. Sandeep Bhushan has been appointed as the interim Managing Director. Facebook had roped in Umang Bedi as its Managing Director, India from Adobe. Prior to joining Facebook, Umang served as Managing Director of the South Asia region at Adobe.

The chatbot will be available through social media platforms and is developed to respond to the most frequently asked queries. Eazy Connect Chatbot is an innovative offering and has been created to match customers’ fast-paced lives.

‘Adopt a Heritage’ project

President Kovind launched ‘Adopt a Heritage’ initiative, under which heritage sites will be entrusted to public & private enterprises & individuals for maintenance. The initiative is an attempt to boost Indian tourism with “greater focus on digital presence & social media”. Under it, those entrusted with development of tourist amenities at the adopted sites would be known as Monument Mitras.

BSF sacks constable Tej Bahadur Yadav

The Border Security Force (BSF) today sacked constable Tej Bahadur Yadav after a three-month long proceeding at a summary court martial. Bahadur’s dismissal came after a court of inquiry found that he had damaged the “image of the BSF” He had uploaded a video clip on the ‘substandard food’; on social media, triggering an uproar.

Mashable claims to have 42 million unique visitors a month and 21 million social media followers. India.com is a joint venture of Penske Media Corp. (PMC) and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd.
