Djokovic clinches fourth Wimbledon title

Novak Djokovic defeated South Africa’s Kevin Anderson to clinch his fourth Wimbledon title. This is Djokovic’s first Grand Slam victory in more than two years. With 13 major titles, Djokovic now stands in fourth place in the all-time Grand Slam singles final list, behind Roger Federer (20), Rafael Nadal (17) and Pete Sampras (14).

World number one Rafael Nadal defeated world number eight Dominic Thiem in the men’s singles final to clinch his record-extending 11th French Open title in 14 years. With this, Nadal equalled former world number one female player Margaret Court’s record of winning a single Grand Slam singles title 11 times. Overall, it was Nadal’s 17th Grand Slam title.

CAG to audit Rafale procurement after payment

CAG will audit the procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France only after the “deal is fully executed and the payments are completed”. The ?59,000 cr deal became contoversial after the Congress claimed that the current deal is more expensive than the one struck during the UPA government. The Dassault Rafale is a French twin-engine, multirole fighter aircraft.

Nadal won 8th Rome Masters 2018

Rafael Nadal won the Rome Masters for the 8th time after he defeated the defending champion Alexander Zverev 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 in the finals. The win is Nadal’s 78th ATP Tour title and takes him clear of John McEnroe into 4th place in the list of most men’s titles won in the Open era. The victory means Nadal will reclaim the Number 1 ranking from Federer.

Spanish world number one Rafael Nadal broke a 34-year-old record by winning his 50th straight set on clay, the most consecutive sets won by a player on a surface. Nadal eased past Argentine Diego Schwartzman 6-3 6-4 in the round of 16 of Madrid Open to storm into the quarter-final round and broke John McEnroe’s long-standing record in Open Era. World number one Rafael Nadal lifted his 11th Barcelona Open tennis title with a win over Greek teenager Stefanos Tsitsipas.Nadal, who won his 400th match on clay in the semifinal, needed the victory in Barcelona to secure his No. 1 ranking.It was the 77th title overall for Nadal tying him with John McEnroe for fourth best in the Open Era.

World Number 1 Rafael Nadal defeated Japan’s Kei Nishikori by 6-3, 6-2 in the Monte Carlo Masters final to win his 31st Masters title.Nadal also became the first man in the Open era to win the same title 11 times. It gave him a 76th title overall and ensured the Spaniard keeps his top ranking ahead of Roger Federer. World No. 36 Nishikori was chasing his first ever Masters title.

Andy Murray claimed his first victory over Rafael Nadal on clay to win the Madrid Masters. The Briton had never beaten Nadal in six previous meetings on the surface but won 6-3 6-2 to stun the home crowd. Defending champion Nadal was aiming for a record fifth win in Madrid but Murray outclassed his Spanish opponent to lift his first Masters title on clay.
