According to a study conducted by Burson Cohn & Wolfe, PM Modi is the 3rd most followed world leader on Twitter with 42 million followers. Modi is just behind US President Donald Trump & Pope Francis. With over 11 million followers, India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj is not only the most followed female world leader & but is also the most followed foreign minister in the world.

Varanasi to host Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2019

The next Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be held in the holy city of Varanasi in January 2019. The theme of the event, which is being organised in PM Modi’s parliamentary constituency, will be the ‘Role of Indian Diaspora in building a New India’. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is observed biennially on 9 January to mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community towards development of India.

PM laid foundation for urban infra projects

PM Modi laid the foundation stone of 13 Urban Infrastructure projects for the State of Rajasthan. Some of the major projects are integrated infrastructure project for Udaipur, elevated road project for Ajmer and water and sewage projects. The Central Water Commission gave hydrological clearance to Rajasthan’s first interlinking of rivers project — Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP).

South Korean President to arrive in India

South Korean President, Moon Jae-in is on a four-day visit to India. During his visit, he will hold talks with PM Modi on several issues, including the situation on the Korean peninsula & ways to boost bilateral trade and defence cooperation. Moon’s visit to India comes nearly a month after the historic summit between US President Donald Trump & North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore.

PM to inaugurate statue of unity

PM Modi will inaugurate the Statue of Unity on 31st October 2018, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The construction of the tallest statue in the world that began in December 2015, is nearly complete. World’s tallest statue dedicated to country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabbhai Patel is being built with 5,700 Metric tonne structural steel and 1,900 MT of bronze.

Rajasthan approves 1% reservation for Gujjars

The Rajasthan government announced 1% reservations for five communities– Gujjar, Banjara, Gadia-Lohar, Raika, and Gadariya– under the Most Backward Classes (MBC) category. This comes after Gujjar leaders threatened to launch protests during PM Narendra Modi’s upcoming Jaipur visit. The Gujjars were seeking 5% reservation within OBC quota to not violate the 50% Supreme Court-mandated cap.

PM to inaugrate number of projects in MP

PM Modi to inaugurate economical urban transport scheme named ‘Sutra Seva’ in Indore under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. Modi will dedicate the Mohanpura Irrigation Project worth Rs 3,866 crore in Rajgarh district to the people of the state. He wiil also distribute awards to winners of Swachh Survekshan 2018 – Indore, Bhopal and Chandigarh.

PM Modi inaugurates nature center in New York

PM Modi inaugurated the ‘YO1 Nature Cure Center’ in the Catskills area of New York on the occasion of 4th International Day of Yoga. YO1, which means youthful in Sanskrit, is the first of its kind nature cure center in America located in Monticello in the scenic region of Catskills. The centre will be a wellness destination that will offer therapies based on ancient Indian Yoga and Pranayam.

4th International Yoga Day

21 : The 4th International Yoga day is being celebrated across the world. In India PM Narendra Modi started the event at Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. The theme for Yoga Day 2018 is “Yoga for Peace”. June 21 is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, hence day was selected by UN Assembly. The first International Day of Yoga was observed all over the world on June 21,2015.

4th Meeting of Governing council – NITI Aayog

The 4th meeting of governing council of NITI Aayog was held in New Delhi chaired by PM Narendra Modi. The meeting aimed to double the farmers’ income and progress of flagship scheme such as Ayushman Bharat, National Nutrition Mission and Mission Indradhanush. It planned for a 3 year action plan to develop a new agenda for “New India 2022”.

PM dedicated expanded Bhilai Plant to Nation

PM Modi inaugurated the Integrated Command and Control Centre at Naya Raipur Smart City, Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister dedicated the modernized and expanded Bhilai Steel Plant, to the nation. PM Modi heads to China for SCO Summit

9 : PM Narendra Modi departed for China’s Qingdao to attend the two-day long 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit. Modi will also hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO summit. The SCO is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation that focuses on strengthening mutual trust and neighbourliness among the member states.

Flower named after Modi

An orchid at National Orchid Garden in Singapore was named ‘Dendrobium Narendra Modi’. Now three flowers are named after PM Narendra Modi. Last year, a fast-growing Israeli Chrysanthemum was named ‘MODI’ during the PM Modi’s visit to the nation. An orchid grown in Sikkim was named ‘Cymbidium Namo’ in 2016 by the state CM Pawan Chamling.

PM Modi returned to Delhi after concluding his 3-nation visit to Indonesia, Malaysia & Singapore. Indonesia: India & Indonesia signed 15 MoUs in the fields of defence, scientific & technological cooperation, railways and health, among others. Malaysia: In Malaysia Modi met his Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohamad and had “productive discussions” on bolstering the bilateral strategic ties.

Singapore: Modi launched three Indian digital payment systems – RuPay, BHIM app and UPI by SBI at the ‘Business, Innovation and Community Event’ in Singapore. PM Modi held wide-ranging talks with his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong and delivered a keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue. He is the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Shangri-La Dialogue.

PM Modi, Hasina inaugurate Bangladesh Bhavan

Prime Minister Modi & his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Bangladesh Bhavan in Santiniketan, West Bengal. Bangladesh Bhavan features a museum that showcases renowned poet Rabindranath Tagore’s association with that country, the Liberation War of Bangladesh & Indo-Bangla relations. It has been built at a cost of Rs. 25 crores, which was provided by Bangladesh government.

PM Modi launches Eastern Peripheral Expressway

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first highway to be lit by solar power in Bagpat, Uttar Pradesh. Eastern Peripheral Expressway is 135 km long, stretching from Kundli on NH 1 to Palwal on NH 2. The highway has provisions of rainwater harvesting on every 500 metres on both sides and would showcase 36 national monuments and 40 fountains. It has been built in a record time of 17 months.

PM Modi to visit Indonesia

PM Modi will be visiting Indonesia on May 29-31 with an aim of working together with Indonesia to strengthen the strategic partnership between both the nations. During the visit, major areas of cooperation will be in the field of space, security & defence. An agreement on cooperation between India and Indonesia on kite museums in both the countries may also take place.

Netherlands signed framework agreement of ISA

Netherlands has signed the framework agreement of International Solar Alliance (ISA) following a bilateral summit between PM Modi & his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte. ISA was launched by Modi and then French President Francois Hollande at the Paris climate summit in 2015. The objective of the alliance is to work for efficient exploitation of solar energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

First national sports university in Manipur

The Union Cabinet has approved an ordinance to set up the country’s first national sports university in Manipur. The varsity will be spread over 325 acres in Imphal West district with a cost of Rs 524 crore. The proposal to set up the national sports university in Manipur was initially announced by PM Modi, while Rs 100 crore funds for it were allocated in the 2014-15 budget.

Kishanganga hydropower project inaugurated

PM Modi has dedicated 330 MW Kishanganga hydropower project in Jammu and Kashmir to the nation. Kishanganga hydropower project will provide 13% free power to J&K including 1% for local area development fund amounting to around Rs 133 crore per year. The project was delayed for several years as Pakistan dragged India to International Court of Arbitration, which ruled in India’s favour in 2013

PM to lay foundation for Zojila tunnel

PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Zojila tunnel on 19 May in Jammu and Kashmir. The tunnel is being built to check the growing influence of Pakistan and China in the Ladakh region. The contract for the project has been awarded to IL & FS. Zojila Pass is known as the gateway to Ladakh region and connects Kargil and Leh with Srinagar.

Modi, Oli launch Janakpur-Ayodhya bus service

PM Modi & his Nepalese counterpart K P Sharma Oli has jointly inaugurated a direct bus service b/w Janakpur & Ayodhya – the two sacred cities for Hindus. Janakpur the birthplace of Sita will now be connected with Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram through the bus service. The places are significant in the Ramayana tourism circuit that falls under the Indian Govt’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme.

Modi among the top 10 most powerful people

PM Modi has been ranked 9th among the top 10 most powerful people in the world by Forbes. The list is topped for the first time ever by the Chinese President Xi Jinping, who dethroned Russian President Vladimir Putin as the most influential person on the planet. Forbes said that Modi has emerged as a key figure in the international effort to tackle climate change.

Loan agreement with WB for POSHAN Abhiyaan

India has signed a loan deal worth $200 million with World Bank for National Nutrition Mission (POSHAN Abhiyaan). The loan would help Government in achieving its goal of reducing stunting in children 0-6 years of age from 38.4% to 25% by 2022. POSHAN scheme launched by PM Modi on March 8, 2018, aims to ensure holistic development & adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers & children.

India, China militaries to set up hotline

Militaries of India & China have agreed to set up a hotline between their headquarters after the informal summit between PM Modi & President Xi in Wuhan.Hotline is regarded as a major confidence-building measure as it would enable the militaries of both countries to intensify communication to avert border tensions. India already has a hotline with Pakistan that was first used in 1991.

According to the study “World Leaders on Facebook” released by Burson Cohn & Wolfe PM Modi is the most ‘liked’ world leader on Facebook. With 43.2 million likes, Prime Minister Modi is almost double of USA President Donald Trump, who has 23.1 Million likes. Modi also has the second highest number of interactions and interaction rate behind Trump.

Budgam shortlisted for Modi’s excellence award

Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district has been shortlisted for PM Modi’s excellence award for promoting digital payments and cashless economy.Digital payments facility has been installed at 670 places across the district so far. In order to ensure successful implementation of the digital payments, the district administration has trained hundreds of local residents at Common Services Centers.

Every village now has access to electricity

According to the government data, all of India’s 597,464 census villages now have access to electricity.The last village to be brought on the national power grid was Leisang village in the Senapati district of Manipur. Prime Minister Modi in his Independence Day speech on 15 August 2015 promised to electrify all un-electrified villages within 1000 days.

Discussions on strengthening cooperation in the fight against global terrorism & cyber crime are expected. It is after 20 years that the UK is hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Govt Meeting. UK joins International Solar Alliance

The United Kingdom joined the India-led International Solar Alliance (ISA) ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s four-day visit to Britain.The UK’s partnership will involve providing expertise and advice to the alliance, but no monetary contributions.The UK became 62nd country to join ISA, which includes countries like France, Australia, Bangladesh, Tuvalu, Benin, UAE, Brazil.

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2018) has begun in London, the UK. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the event on 19th and 20th of April. Govt to launch first tranche of GSB for FY19

The government will launch the first tranche of sovereign gold bonds for the current fiscal on April 16, offering a 2.5% annual interest to investors.The latest issuance of bonds is part of the government’s efforts to garner as much as Rs 5,000 crore from all the three gold schemes this fiscal. The sovereign gold bond scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in late 2015.

Modi inaugurated 1st health centre

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first health centre under Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Bijapur.He also inaugurated the first phase of the Bastar Internet scheme under which a 40,000-km-long network of fibre optics cable would be spread across the seven districts of the tribal region. The districts are Bijapur, Narayanpur, Bastar, Kanker, Kondagaon, Sukma and Dantewada.

PM Modi Launches Largest Health Care Scheme on Ambedkar Jayanti

On the occasion of Birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the phase one of the Ayushman Bharat schemes that aim at creating a healthy, prosperous and strong India. The first phase of Ayushman Bharat will see 1.5 Lakh such Centers being set up across the country. The Prime Minister also launched Health and Wellness Centre under Ayushman Bharat scheme in Jangala village of Karnataka. This health and wellness centre will have the facility of teleconsultation.

Mudra Yojana completes 3 years

PM expressed delight over the completion of three years of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY). The scheme was introduced to cater to entrepreneurs who are either in their early stage or require lesser funds in order to get their business running. The PMMY was launched on April 8, 2015 with an aim to provide loans upto Rs 10 lakh to non-corporate, non-farm small or micro enterprises.

9th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue in Tokyo

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj attended the 9th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue in Tokyo. Japanese FDI in India during 2016-17 was USD 4.7 billion, an increase of 80% over the last year. India‘s import from Japan for 2016-17 was USD 9.76 billion. India and Japan concluded a Special Strategic and Global Partnership during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Japan in 2014.

Modi to inaugurate Science Congress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 105th Indian Science Congress at Manipur University. It will be attended by some 5000 delegates comprising of scientists, scholars and corporate officials from different parts of the country and other countries. UP’s largest Solar Power Plant inaugrated

PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron have inaugurated Uttar Pradesh‘s biggest solar power plant in Dadar Kalan village of Chhanvey block in Mirzapur Some 1,18,600 solar panels have been set up in over 380 acres. The solar plant will generate 15.6 crore units of electricity annually, which is about 1.30 crore units per month.

The Delhi End TB Summit

12 : The PM will inaugurate ‘The Delhi End TB Summit’ on 13th March. The Summit will be co-hosted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, WHO South East Asia Regional Office and ‘Stop TB Partnership’. The Prime Minister will launch TB Free India Campaign on this occasion. TB free India Campaign will take the activities of National Strategic Plan for TB elimination forward in Mission mode.

India, France inked 14 pacts

India and France inked key pacts in the strategic areas of security, nuclear energy after extensive talks between PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. Agreements in the field of education, environment, urban development and railways were also signed. The two countries also decided to step up cooperation in space technology and use it in the maritime domain.

PM Modi’s rakhi sister passed away

Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s rakhi sister Sharbati Devi passed away in Dhanbad at the age of 103. She had hit the headlines last year when she met Prime Minister Modi at his official residence in Lok Kalyan Marg on Raksha Bandhan. The 103-year-old, who had lost her brother 50-years-ago, had a desire to celebrate the festival with the prime minister because she missed her deceased brother.

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated National Legislators Conference on the theme =We For Development‘ in New Delhi. The motive of the conference is to bring MPs and MLAs on a single platform where ideas and plans for development can be exchanged. India and Vietnam inked three pacts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang also vowed to expand bilateral cooperation in several key sectors, including defence, oil and gas, and agriculture. The three pacts signed after the talks between the two leaders would provide for cooperation in areas of nuclear energy, trade and agriculture.

Vietnam President On 3-Day Visit to India

The Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang has arrived in India on the 3-day visit. He is scheduled to hold delegation level talks with PM Modi in New Delhi. This is Tran‘s first visit to India as president Strengthening cooperation in the key areas of defence and trade will be high on the agenda. The two sides will sign MoUs in the areas of nuclear energy, agriculture and trade and investment.

Modi to address India-Korea Business Summit

PM Modi addressed the 2nd India-Korea Business Summit in New Delhi.The summit aims to create framework for an open & action-oriented dialogue b/w top business leaders & govt officials from India & Korea. This year, the theme of the summit is “India-Korea: Scaling up the Special Strategic Relationship through Trade & Investments”. India and Korea are the 3rd & 4th largest economies in Asia.

Modi launches Amma two-wheeler scheme

PM Modi kickstarted the subsidised Amma two-wheeler scheme meant for working women, on the occasion of former Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s 70th birth anniversary.As part of the scheme, every beneficiary in the state of Tamil Nadu will be given 50% of the cost of a two- wheeler or a grant of ?25,000. Each year, one lakh working women would be covered under this scheme.

1000 cr development projects for Daman & Diu

Prime Minister Modi has launched the development schemes worth Rs 1,000 crore for Daman and Diu.Modi laid the foundation stones for a slew of projects, including a water treatment plant, a gas pipeline, an electric sub-station, a municipal market and a foot-bridge. He also inaugurated a flight connecting Ahmedabad to coastal town of Diu and a helicopter service connecting Daman and Diu.

Kunwar Bai passes away

Kunwar Bai, Chattisgarh’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan mascot, passed away after suffering from a long time illness. She was 106 years old.She was felicitated by PM Modi for her work to make her village open defecation free in 2016. She sold her goats for Rs 22,000 and built a toilet at her home with that money. Kunwarbai was made Swachhta Doot by Chattisgarh state government.

India is all set to organise a mega India TB summit from March 13-16.All chief ministers will be invited and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first of its kind event which is aimed at generating sufficient momentum for his vision of a TB free India by 2025. It is five years ahead of the global TB elimination target of 2030.

20,000 crore defence corridor for Bundelkhand

PM Modi has announced a defence industrial corridor in Bundelkhand region, one of the most backward regions of UP.In this year’s budget, govt. had announced that it will establish 2 defence industrial production corridors. The corridor will link Agra, Aligarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi& Chitrakoot. The decision was taken keeping in mind the developmental requirements of Bundelkhand region.

Committee to study Brahmaputra

Centre has constituted a committee headed by Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman of the NITI Aayog to study the Brahmaputra & flood control measures in Assam & neighbouring states.Assam govt has submitted required report on flood control measures to the committee. PM Modi during his visit to Guwahati last year, announced to provide 100 crore rupees to find out a permanent solution of flood.

PM Modi has launched Nasscom’s platform—Future Skills—for skill development in 8 varied technologies.Modi launched the platform via video conference during the inaugural session of the World Congress on Information Technology 2018. Foundation stone for Navi Mumbai airport

PM Modi has laid the foundation stone of Navi Mumbai International Airport.The new airport which is expected to ease the load of congested Mumbai airport will become functional in 2019. City Industrial Development Corporation is developing the airport along with GVK Group. The 16,700-crore project which was overdue from past 21-year was planned in 1997 to meet the growing needs of Mumbai.

World Congress on Information Technology

The 3 day long, World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) has begun in Hyderabad.WCIT is being organised for the time in the country & Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the summit through a video conference. India to get control of key port in Iran

India & Iran have signed a significant pact which gives India operational control of a part of strategically located Chabahar port for 18 months.Agreement was signed after PM Modi held wide-ranging talks with Iranian president Hassan Rouhani. Modi to inaugurate container terminal at JNPT

PM Modi will inaugurate the fourth container terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai.The JNPT’s Fourth Container Terminal Phase I has is expected to boost container trade & logistics in a big way. It has been completed in a record time at a cost of Rs. 4,719 crore. The terminal will be able to dock mother vessels, handle the biggest containers ships from a quay length of 1 km.

India, Oman Sign 8 MoUs

India and Oman have signed 8 MoUs in different areas during Modi’s maiden visit to the Gulf nation.Agreements were inked in the areas of defence, health and tourism. An MoU on legal and judicial co-operation in civil and commercial matters was also signed. The agreements were inked after Mr Modi held delegation-level talks with the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said al Said in Muscat.

Govt saved ` 56k cr through Aadhaar-enabled DBT

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Union government has saved ?56,000 crore through Aadhaar-enabled Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of about 400 government schemes.Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, he further said that India is going through a revolution in digital payment space and moving towards a less cash economy at a fast pace. India, UAE to hold first naval drill in Gulf

Modi completed his 3 nations visit and made various developements.Before he flew on to Muscat, the PM, reiterated strong cooperation on combating terrorism and a defence partnership that will see the Indian Navy conducting an exercise in the Gulf waters.This is the first time Indian Navy will be exercising in the Gulf, going beyond the Arabian Sea.

Modi visited a 125-year-old Shiva Temple and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, which is made of 3 lakh tonnes of Indian sandstone, in Oman’s capital Muscat.PM Modi, who is on a three-nation tour to the Middle East, reached Oman on Sunday and addressed a gathering of nearly 20,000 Indians at the Sultan Qaboos Stadium. India & UAE signed have 5 agreements following a delegation-level talks headed by PM Modi & Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.The MoUs signed and exchanged are related to energy sector, railways, manpower and financial services. To deepen bilateral cooperation in the field of finance, a MoU between Bombay Stock Exchange & Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange was signed.

Abu Dhabi to get its first Hindu temple

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the first Hindu temple to be built in Abu Dhabi.The temple spread over an area of 55,000 square meters will be located off the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway at Al-Rahaba. The temple’s construction will be completed by 2020 and will be open to people of all religious backgrounds.

Fund for National Waterway-1 project

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave its approval for implementation of the Jal Marg Vikas Project at a cost of Rs 5369 crore.This project is geared towards capacity augmentation of navigation on the Haldia-Varanasi stretch of National Waterway-1 (NW-1). The project is spread across four states viz. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal.

GAIL Awards Contracts for PMUG yojana

GAIL India has placed orders for another 400-km of the pipeline of the ambitious PM Urja Ganga natural gas pipeline project that will take the fuel to eastern India.With these awards, pipe supply orders for 2,100 km of the Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline project have been placed.Urja Ganga gas pipeline project was inaugurated by PM Modi in his constituency Varanasi, UP.
