Chandrababu Naidu to launch “Anna canteen”

Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu launched Anna canteens in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh as a tribute to father-in-law and Telugu Desam Party founder NTR. A total of 203 such canteens will come up across the state’s 110 municipalities in phases. NGO Akshaya Patra will manage state-run canteens and the scheme will reach out to over 2 lakh people per day.

Andhra Pradesh declared open-defecation free

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has declared the state open-defecation free after achieving the goal of constructing 2.77 lakh individual toilets. “We’ve completed the task of constructing toilets but they have to be used by every individual. For that, the administration has to take up some awareness programmes,” Naidu said. Notably, the state’s urban areas were declared ODF in 2016.

Naidu Head Committee on Demonetisation

Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu will head a committee of Chief Ministers to suggest measures to reduce hardships caused to the common man by demonetisation of ` 500 & ` 1000 notes. It will suggest measures to normalise the situation. The panel is also expected to work on ways to move towards a cashless economy. Naidu had been seeking a ban on high value notes as a way to combat black money.

Naidu commissions 5 MW Solar power plant

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu commissioned a 5 MW solar power plant on the Polavaram right canal bund at Gollagudem village in West Godavari district. The plant will produce 8.06 million units of power annually. The Centre has extended a capital subsidy of ` 7.50 crore for this plant. AP has currently has an overall installed capacity of 1000 MW of solar energy.
