Railways & Mahametro to create MRTS in Nagpur

Indian Railways today signed an agreement with the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) to create a mass rapid transit system in Nagpur. Under the MoU, the Railways and MahaMetro would work towards linking railway line to metro coaches on broad gauge network. The MoU was signed between Maharastra CM Devendra Fadnavis and transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari.

BEL signs MoU with Saab for radar

Defence undertaking BEL has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saab, Sweden for jointly marketing the L-Band 3D Air Surveillance Radar, RAWL-03. Bharat Electrical Limited (BEL) is engaged in the design, manufacture & supply of radars such as like weapon locating, surveillance & communication systems. RAWL-03 will be offered in both ship-borne and land-based configurations.

University of Houston signs MoU with IIPE

The University of Houston has signed a MoU with the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) to build scientific and technical knowledge through joint research. It covers key areas of possible collaboration in faculty exchanges, offshore and onshore petroleum engineering and process control systems. The MoU also covers possible student exchanges for short-term visits and learning.

MoU on exchange of experience by legal experts

India and UK have signed an agreement on exchange of experience by legal professionals and government functionaries for resolution of disputes before various courts and tribunals. The MoU aims to enhance the bilateral cooperation in legal affairs between the two countries. The two countries would also exchange information regarding current issues of international significance.

CRPF inks MoU with IRCTC

CRPF signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IRCTC to usher in the easy & fast e-booking of railway tickets system. The e-ticketing will replace the earlier system of railway warrant which was cumbersome and is in line with the e-governance policy of the government. The CRPF is the paramilitary force that was raised in 1939 to handle internal security issues & anti-Naxal missions.

India and South Korea ink 11 MoUs

India and South Korea have signed 11 MoU’s during South Korean President Moon Jae-in’s visit to India. A MoU on trade remedies was signed for cooperation in the area of trade remedies like anti-dumping, subsidy, countervailing and safeguard measures through consultations. A MoU on future strategy group was also inked for cooperation in the development of cutting-edge technologies.

MoU to boost inter-parliamentary dialogue

For the first time, Rajya Sabha has signed a MoU with its counterpart in a foreign country, Rwanda, for promoting inter-parliamentary dialogue. The MoU, with 6 articles of cooperation, aims to promote inter-parliamentary dialogue, capacity building of parliamentary staff & organisation of conferences among others. M Venkaiah Naidu is the first Rajya Sabha chairman to sign such an agreement.

Microsoft signs MoU with Rajasthan Government

Microsoft signed a MoU with the Rajasthan Government to provide free digital training to 9,500 college students in one year. The initiative was taken for the enhancement of digital learning and capacity building of college students in the state. The company will run MS office specialist training programme in 50 government colleges from August which will benefit 9,500 students.

Nasscom unveiled new Center for Data and AI

Nasscom opened a Center of Excellence for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence with an aim to strengthen the country’s AI ecosystem. It also signed a MoU with Niti Aayog to foster privacy, security, applied research, and accelerate ethics. The CoE initiative is a nationwide programme which is based on innovation and would focus on solutions.

Centre approves MoU between ICAI, SOCPA

Cabinet has given its ex-post facto approval for the MoU signed in 2014 & approval for renewal of MoU between Institute of Chartered Accountants of India & Saudi Organisation for Certified Public Accountant. The MoU promotes mutual co-operation framework in quality assurance, forensic accounting & Islamic finance among others. ICAI is a statutory body to regulate profession of CA in India.

WIPO treaties approved

The Union Cabinet approved MoU between India and United Kingdom regarding cooperation between both countries in the sphere of Law & Justice. A Joint Consultative Committee will also be set up. It concerns exchange of experience by legal professionals, government functionaries for resolution of disputes.

Tie-up to develop commodity derivatives market

Bombay Stock Exchange has entered into an agreement with Bombay Metal Exchange for growth & systematic development of commodity derivatives markets in non-ferrous metals complex. Through this MoU, BSE & BME will work jointly on initiatives to deepen the understanding of commodity market among stakeholders. BME will assist BSE in designing innovative deliverable products in commodities.

Kerala govt signs MoU with Nissan

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Kerala government and Nissan officials to boost digital operations. The first phase of the digital hub will come up over 30 acres of land in Technocity, 20 kilometres outside Thiruvananthapuram. The company is looking at providing 500 direct jobs by the end of April 2019 with indirect employment for software development.

Cabinet approves MoU between India & Singapore

Union Cabinet has given its nod to a Memorandum of Understanding between India & Singapore for cooperation in urban planning and development. The agreement will facilitate government agencies to tap into expertise offered by Singaporean agencies in urban development and management. MoU aims is to facilitate government bodies like municipal corporations to help in rejuvenation of urban areas.

Caninet approves MoU with Denmark

The Cabinet gave approval for the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between India and Denmark in the field of animal husbandry and dairy. Under this, a joint working group consisting of representatives from both the countries will be created to formulate joint programmes. This will facilitate the exchange of knowledge & expertise in the areas of animal breeding, animal health.

India and Seychelles signed 6 agreements

India and Seychelles signed six MoUs in areas of naval cooperation, cybersecurity, culture, development projects. India extended a line of credit worth 100 million USD for Seychelles. India would also provide special grants in civilian infrastructure projects and enhance defence and maritime capabilities. PM also handed over a replica of Dornier Aircraft to President of Seychelles.

Ministry of Health signs MoU with IGNOU

Health Ministry has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to scale-up short-term healthcare courses and produce over 14 lakh trained manpower by 2025. The signing of MoU is under the existing framework of ‘Skills for Life, Save a Life’ initiative. The ministry will provide for financial assistance to IGNOU for initiating programmes.

Ratnagiri Project: ARAMCO and ADNOC sign MoU

Saudi Aramco and ADNOC signed a MoU to jointly develop a refinery complex at Ratnagiri, Maharastra. The project will be implemented by Ratnagiri Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. (RRPCL) and is estimated to be Rs. 3 lakh Crore. The mega refinery will be capable of processing 1.2 million barrels of crude oil per day. It will produce 18 million tonnes per annum of refined petroleum products.

India and Cuba sign MoU to strengthen ties

India and Cuba have signed two MoUs in the field of biotechnology, traditional medicine and homoeopathy between President Ram Nath Kovind and his Cuban counterpart Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel. India also offered a soft loan for the solar projects under the framework agreement of the ISA, of which Cuba is a founding member. Mr Kovind also went to Jose Marti at his memorial at Revolution Square.

Fadnavis visited Virgin Hyperloop test site

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis visited one of Virgin Hyperloop One’s test sites in the US, earlier this week. The visit follows the MoU signed by the state government with the Virgin Group to build the Mumbai-Pune Hyperloop at an estimated cost of ?20,000 crore. The Hyperloop is expected to reduce the travel time between the two cities to 25 minutes.

20 States sign MoU for Ayushman Bharat

Shri J P Nadda, exchanged the MoU with the State Health Ministers of 20 States marking their commitment towards the launch of the Ayushman Bharat. It will be cashless and paperless access to services. Upto Rs. 5 lakhs per year will be available for the beneficiary families. Ayushman Bharat is National Health Protection Scheme, which will cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families.

MoU between the ICMR and INSERM, France

Union Cabinet has been apprised of a MoU which was signed in March 2018 between the ICMR and INSERM, France. The MoU aims at cooperation in areas of common interest within the medical, life sciences and health research fields. The scientific excellence on two sides will help to successfully work on health research in specified areas.

President Kovind to embark on 3-nation visit

President Ram Nath Kovind will embark on a three-nation tour to Greece, Suriname and Cuba. On the first leg of the visit, the President will leave for Athens. President Kovind will leave for Suriname on the 2nd leg. A number of agreements and MoUs in the areas of health and medicine, elections, IT, Ayurveda are scheduled to be signed.

Ministry to study marine litter issue

The Union Ministry of Earth Sciences will begin work on gauging marine litter and their sources along the country’s coastline. The country had joined the United Nations’ ‘Clean Seas’ programme. India and the US had signed a MoU in 2008 to have scientific and technical cooperation in Earth observations and Earth sciences.

Myanmar, UN sign pact for Rohingyas

Myanmar and U.N. agencies signed an agreement that might eventually lead to the return of some of the 700,000 Rohingya Muslims. The MoU signed promises to establish a “framework of cooperation” that aims to create the conditions for “voluntary, safe, dignified and sustainable” repatriation of Rohingya refugees. The U.N. and U.S. have described the army crackdown as “ethnic cleansing”.

Cabinet approves MoU between India and Oman

The Union Cabinet approved a MoU signed between India represented by the ISRO and Oman represented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The MoU on Cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space was signed in February 2018 at Muscat. This MoU shall enable cooperation in space science, technology, and applications including remote sensing of the earth.

Prasar Bharati signs MoU with I&B Ministry

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Prasar Bharati, which runs Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR), have inked an MoU required for the release of financial allocation. The MoU was signed in the last week of May. Autonomous bodies getting grants-in-aid from the government are required to sign a MoU with the ministry concerned for the release of the financial allocations.

Telangana, LIC sign MoU for life insurance

Telangana government and the LIC signed a MoU for the implementation of a Rs five lakh life insurance scheme for the benefit of farmers in the state. The scheme will be implemented from August 15. The agriculture department alone would implement the scheme and the AEOs (Agriculture Extension Officers) should get the insurance papers filled up by farmers before August 15.

PM Modi returned to Delhi after concluding his 3-nation visit to Indonesia, Malaysia & Singapore. Indonesia: India & Indonesia signed 15 MoUs in the fields of defence, scientific & technological cooperation, railways and health, among others. Malaysia: In Malaysia Modi met his Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohamad and had “productive discussions” on bolstering the bilateral strategic ties.

Tata Motors inks MoU to deploy 1,000 EVs

Tata Motors has inked a pact with Maharashtra government to deploy 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs) from its range of passenger and commercial vehicles across the state. Tata Motors along with Tata Power will also facilitate setting up of EV charging stations in the Maharashtra. The MoU boosts the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy, 2018.

Yes Bank inks MoU with SIDBI

Yes Bank has entered into an agreement with SIDBI under which it will act as a preferred financial institution for giving loans to the small and medium enterprising customers. This will facilitate smooth flow of credit in a hassle-free manner to MSME customers availing term loan facility from SIDBI. WCD ministry, UP govt sign MoU

A MoU has been signed between the Women and Child and Development (WCD) Ministry and the Uttar Pradesh government for managing a shelter home for widows in Vrindavan. The MoU shall be in force for a period of two years. According to the MoU, the UP government shall be responsible for activities including setting up mechanism for identifying beneficiaries and other norms.

Small Industries Development Bank of India has signed an MoU with Common Service Centres Special Purpose Vehicle for providing financial support to CSCs. SIDBI will extend financial support to Village Level Entrepreneurs of CSCs, with minimum 1 year of operation, under the Direct Financing Window of SIDBI. 4 states ink MoUs with Centre on health

Maha signs MoU with Centre’s GRIHA council

India & Myanmar have signed 7 agreements during the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s visit to Myanmar. MoU to cooperate in diplomatic training

India and Guatemala have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for expanding cooperation in the area of diplomatic training. The agreement was inked after a meeting between Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and his Guatemala counterpart, Jafeth Cabrera Franco. PGCIL Inks Pact With Power Ministry

State-run Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has inked a pact with the Ministry of Power to incur capital expenditure of Rs.25,000 crore for the current fiscal. The MoU includes various targets to be achieved by Powergrid during 2018-19. Other targets in the MoU inter-alia include parameters related to human resources, project management, research & development.

Env ministry to have resource efficiency cell

The Environment Ministry signed an MoU with TERI for setting up a resource efficiency cell. The MoU to set up the cell at the ministry aims to provide mainstream resource efficiency in public policy. An industry consortium on ‘Waste-Proofing the Future’ to identify the institutional and policy interventions needed to sustainably manage waste was also launched at the event.

CSIR and DoT enter into MoU

CSIR entered into a MoU with DoT for synchronising the telecom network with Indian Standard Time (IST).The purpose of synchronising the telecom network with the IST is to enable the security agencies in analysing and correlating the cyber events. Hindustan Copper Ltd has signed a MoU with Manganese Ore (India) Ltd for the Malanjkhand Copper Project. As per the memorandum, MOIL will procure its entire requirement of silica sand, from HCL’s unit located at Malanjkhand in Balaghat District. This sand will be suitable for road making, construction of building etc.

SAIL ties-up with AAI under UDAN

SAIL and AAI have signed an MoU on utilisation of airstrips under the Regional Connectivity Scheme – UDAN.SAIL have airstrips at its Rourkela (Odisha), Bokaro (Jharkhand) and Burnpur (West Bengal) steel plants. AAI will operate and manage airport operations for Burnpur, Rourkela and Bokaro airport on behalf for SAIL. The UDAN scheme has been launched by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

NBCC ties up with Skill Development Institute

NBCC (India) Ltd under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs signed MoU with the Skill Development Institute Bhubaneswar, for the construction of the institute.This will facilitate empowering the youth in Odisha with relevant skill sets and train them in various disciplines. NBCC has pledged to impart training to 40,000 workers (including both onsite and offsite) in the next five years.

India has inked a pact with Morocco under which focus would be laid on the evaluation of potential mineral resources and promoting exploration and mining.The focus of the MoU is on the development of the geological infrastructure for Geoscience Maps and geochemical maps. NPCIL & NSDC signed a MoU

The National Skill Development Corporation signed a MoU with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited to provide skill training to 500 youth and women at Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu.The skill development project will be executed by NSDC.The skill development project aims to provide gainful employment to nearly 70% of the trained candidates post-training.

The Cabinet approved the MoU between India and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland on the return of Illegal Migrants.The MoU will facilitate the visa-free agreement for holders of diplomatic passports as well as liberalisation of UK visa regime for those who are travelling to the UK legally. It will ensure the return of persons who have no lawful basis to be in the territory.

India, Bangladesh signed 6 MoUs

India and Bangladesh signed 6 pacts including one for the construction of a 129.5 km-long oil pipeline between Siliguri and Parbatipur.The MoU on the oil pipeline is aimed at transporting diesel from India to Bangladesh. An agreement between Department of Atomic Energy, India and Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, was signed. The other MoU was between Prasar Bharati and Bangladesh Betar.

India, Equatorial Guinea inked three MoUs

Three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between India and Equatorial Guinea.The MoUs were signed towards affirming cooperation in the fields of medicinal plants, traditional systems of medicine, and health and medicine sector. An action plan was also devised on cooperation in the field of Information and Communicational Technology.

FIEO, PayPal sign MoU to empower SMEs

Digital payments platform, PayPal, and the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), an apex international trade promotion organisation, announced a partnership to promote exports.PayPal will work with FIEO to educate small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on how to leverage global opportunities.The MoU will focus on training Indian SMEs in various aspects of exports.

A Memorandum of Undertaking (MoU) was signed between the Indian Army and HDFC Bank on the Defence Salary Package.The first MoU between HDFC Bank and the Indian Army was signed in 2011 and was renewed on 13 Mar 2015. Indian Army has MoUs on Defence Salary Package with 11 public and private sector banks.

First International Justice Conference

Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Law and Justice embarked on a visit to Marrakech, Morrocco, for the first International Justice Conference.The conference is being organised by Morrocco in celebration of the judicial reforms undertaken by it in 2017. India is expected to sign MoUs with China, Russia, Qatar and Turkey in connection with judicial reforms.

MoU between India and Canada on IPRs

The Union Cabinet approved the MoU between India and Canada to establish bilateral cooperation activities in the field of Intellectual Property (IP). The MoU is intended to promote innovation, creativity and economic growth in both countries. Both countries can exchange best practices and work together to raise awareness on IPRs and better protect Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).

India-UK signed MoU on organised crime

The Union Cabinet signed a MoU between India, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland on cooperation and exchange of information for tackling organised crime. India and the UK already have a 1995 agreement in place concerning the investigation and prosecution of crime. Both India and the UK are working towards strengthening cooperation to fight the global terrorism and organised crime.

MoU between India and SACEP approved

29 : The Cabinet has approved the MoU between India and South Asian Cooperative Environment Programme (SACEP) for cooperation on Oil and Chemical Pollution in the South Asian Seas Region. It will promote cooperation between India and other maritime nation for protection of the marine environ-ment. Indian coast guard will be the competent authority for implementation of ‘Oil spill contingency plan’

MoU signed between SBI and IMGC

SBI and India Mortgage Guarantee Corporation (IMGC) signed a pact to offer mortgage guarantee scheme for prospective non-salaried and self-employed home loan customers. The offering will help increase home loan eligibility up to 15% within the regulatory norms. The applicant can avail higher finance based on risk grade of the borrower, by opting for IMGC default guarantee cover.

Cabinet approved India-Iran MoU on health

16 : Cabinet has given its ex-post facto approval for the MoU b/w India & Iran on cooperation in the field of Health & Medicine. The MoU also covers the exchange experience in training of medical doctors and other health professionals. It also includes regulation of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and cooperation in the field of medical research, new technologies and knowledge-based initiatives.

IATA partners with civil aviation ministry

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the National Aviation University to enhance human resource availability in India‘s aviation industry. The 3 parties to the MoU formalised this partnership on sidelines of Wings India 2018. India is expected to be 3rd largest aviation market in the world

MoU between India and Sri Lanka

The Union Cabinet has approved MoU inked between India and Sri Lanka for promoting cooperation in field of IT. The MoU aims to promote co-operation in the areas such as e-governance, m-governance, electronics-public services delivery, cyber security, software technology parks, startups etc. It will be implemented by constituting a Working Group comprising representatives from both the sides.

India announces USD 100 mn LoC for Mauritius

India has offered a 100 million dollar Line of Credit (LoC)to Mauritius for defence procurement to help its security capacity. India also agreed to sell a Multi-Purpose Offshore Petrol Vessel to the island nation. The other agreements/MoUs signed between the two sides include a MoU on cooperation between Nalanda University in Bihar and Mauritius.

IBBI and RBI sign MoU

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India signed MoU with the Reserve Bank of India for enhancing cooperation between the two regulators to ensure better implementation of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. RBI is the banking regulator, the IBBI regulates insolvency professionals and agencies and information utilities. RBI and IBBI will share data and resources with each other.

Goa govt signs MoU with Google India

The Goa government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Google India to promote digital literacy and drive the digital transformation in the state. Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Vice President, Google South East Asia and India Rajan Anandan signed the MoU.
