IIT D sign MoU with AIIA to validate Ayurveda

An agreement was signed between IIT Delhi & the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under which projects would be launched that would aim to give “scientific validation” to the Ayurveda and integrate it with technology. The projects would be funded by the Ayush Ministry. The agreement was signed at a conference of the heads of Ayush Institutes on ways to induce modernity in Ayurveda.

Conference of Heads of AYUSH Institutes

All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under Ministry of AYUSH is organizing two days Conference of Heads of AYUSH National Institutes at India International Centre, New Delhi. Minister of Human Resource Development Shri Prakash Javadekar will inaugurate the conference. Health Universities and research institutes sign MoUs with Sports Authority of India, Indian Institute of Technology.

University of Houston signs MoU with IIPE

The University of Houston has signed a MoU with the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) to build scientific and technical knowledge through joint research. It covers key areas of possible collaboration in faculty exchanges, offshore and onshore petroleum engineering and process control systems. The MoU also covers possible student exchanges for short-term visits and learning.

Army, FTII to provide acting courses in J&K

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) has joined hands with the Indian Army to provide acting courses for the youth of J&K. Renowned actor Gufi Paintal was invited as a special guest faculty to mentor the youth for the course. The youth trained by the Army in theatre and art earlier this year also witnessed the creative rendition of the budding artists.

Institution of eminence status

Prakash Javadekar has released list of 6 institutes, 3 in public & 3 in private sector, which have been accorded the status of Institution of Eminence by the government. In the public sector, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay & IISc Bangalore have been granted the status. Manipal Academy of Higher Education, BITS Pilani & Jio Institute have been granted institution of eminence tag in the private sector

Centre approves MoU between ICAI, SOCPA

Cabinet has given its ex-post facto approval for the MoU signed in 2014 & approval for renewal of MoU between Institute of Chartered Accountants of India & Saudi Organisation for Certified Public Accountant. The MoU promotes mutual co-operation framework in quality assurance, forensic accounting & Islamic finance among others. ICAI is a statutory body to regulate profession of CA in India.

CMSMS and ‘Khan Prahari’ App launched

Shri Piyush Goyal launched the Coal Mine Surveillance & Management System (CMSMS) and Mobile Application ‘Khan Prahari’. It is developed by CMPDI, Ranchi a Subsidiary of CIL and Bhaskarcharya Institute of Space Application and Geo-informatics (BISAG). The basic objective of CMSMS is reporting, monitoring and taking suitable action on unauthorised coal mining activities.

IISc to boost science start-up incubation

The Indian Institute of Science plans to open a research park at its Bengaluru facility within the next three years to incubate sci-tech companies. These parks would include simulators used for endoscopy, microsatellites to access the Internet at lower costs, a medical diagnostic kit. The institute collaborations with companies such as TCS, Volvo, Google, General Motors, Boeing etc.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw elected to MIT board

India’s biotech queen Kiran Mazumdar Shaw has been elected as a full-term member of the Board of Trustees of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Shaw is also ranked among the world’s most influential people in bio-pharma by Forbes magazine. Shaw was elected a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences in 2006.
