8th India-Oman Joint Meeting Begins in Muscat

The Commerce Minister, Suresh Prabhu, co-chaired 8th session of India-Oman Joint Commission Meeting along with Minister of Industry of Oman, Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy. The Commerce Minister launched investment friendly programmes with a business opportunity in the country. JCM include cooperation in space, SMEs, food security, including durable foods and visit of young entrepreneurs.

UN Panel On Digital Cooperation

UN chief Antonio Guterres has established a first-of-its-kind panel on digital cooperation aimed at addressing concerns of cybersecurity threats and rise in hate speech. The high-level panel on digital cooperation will be co-chaired by Melinda Gates and Jack Ma. It will have 20 members in total and include leaders from industry, civil society and academia.

NITI Aayog proposes ‘National Health Stack’

NITI Aayog has unveiled the blueprint of National Health Stack, a shared digital healthcare infrastructure. It is in line with implementation of Centre’s Ayushman Bharat & other public healthcare programmes in the country. It will allow policymakers to build their projections around upcoming outcomes, experiment with new services as well as fill the existing gaps in the healthcare industry.

India’s first global mobility summit

NITI Aayog, in collaboration with various ministries & industry partners will organise ‘MOVE: Global Mobility Summit’ in New Delhi. This Summit will help drive Government’s goals for vehicle electrification & renewable energy integration & speed up India’s transition to a clean energy economy. It aims to engage with key stakeholders within the rapidly transforming global mobility landscape.

India’s 1st khadi mall in Jharkhand

India’s first khadi mall would come up in Jharkhand and would provide a major boost for khadi and other handicrafts industry. The Jharkhand Khadi Board would be providing people employment along with training, raw materials and machinery. Apart from this, the role of the urban market along with rural haats and tourists spots would also generate significant revenue.

‘Women Wizards Rule Tech’ programme

NASSCOM unveiled a programme named Women Wizards Rule Tech. It aims to increase the number of women in senior levels in the Information Technology (IT) industry. The Women Wizards Rule Tech was announced in March at the Nasscom Diversity and Inclusion Summit in Chennai as a joint initiative by the Nasscom Sector Skills Council and the Data Security Council of India.

T.V. Narendran new chairman of Bhushan Steel

16 : Bhushan Steel Ltd, acquired by Tata Steel Ltd, has approved the appointment of T.V. Narendran as chairman and non-executive additional director of the company. Narendran, CEO and MD of Tata Steel, has over 30 years of experience in the metal and mining industry. Tata Steel acquired the controlling stake of 72.65% in Bhushan Steel in accordance with ` 35,200-crore resolution plan.

Geo-Intelligence Asia – 2018

The Eleventh edition of GeoIntelligence Asia 2018 was held in New Delhi. The theme of Seminar was ‘GeoSpatial : A Force Multiplier for Defence and Industrial Security’. The seminar brought together BSF, Police Forces, Government and industry together to examine the latest technology solutions and on the critical role of geospatial technology in military and security applications.

Ruthenium found to have magnetic properties

Scientists have demonstrated that the chemical element ruthenium (Ru) is the fourth single element to have unique magnetic properties at room temperature. The discovery could be used to improve sensors, devices in the computer memory and logic industry. Only 3 elements have been found to be ferromagnetic at room temperature — iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), and nickel (Ni).

MobiKwik launches UPI on platform

MobiKwik has announced the launch of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) on its platform via its own Virtual payment address (VPA) handle @ikwik. Users can simply scan and generate UPI QR functionality to send and receive money using VPA and phone number from the contact list. MobiKwik is the first in the industry to offer UPI access to a huge base of three million merchants on its app.
