Gujarat to form Sanskrit Bhasha Vikas Board

The Sanskrit language, the state government has decided to form the Sanskrit Bhasha Vikas Board. The decision was announced by state education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama at an event held at the Gujarat University. The university has started a dedicated centre for spoken Sanskrit and also plans to celebrate Sanskrit Utsav.

Seema Darshan project

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani has approved the ` 39 Cr Seema Darshan project for developing more infrastructure facilities at Nadabet near Suigam in Banaskantha district. The project is being developed on Wagah Border pattern & entails a parade ground with an amphitheatre. The project will encourage local economic activity in the Rann region & tourists can have a good view of the coastline.

Gujarat’s Jews gets religious minority status

The Gujarat government has granted religious minority status to the Jewish community in the state. The notification to this effect was issued on July 6 by the state’s Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. They shall get benefits of welfare schemes formulated for religious minority communities within the jurisdiction of Gujarat.

Special drive launched by Gujarat CM

CM of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani launched a special drive called ‘Poshan Abhiyan’ to eradicate malnutrition among children. ‘Purna’ project was also launched under this drive for malnutrition girls under the age group of 14-18 years. Nutritious food will be served to these children through Anganwadi centres and ` 270 crore has been allocated by the government to control malnutrition in girls.

GNFC: 1st in India to use Blockchain Tech

GNFC (Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers & Chemicals) crosses another milestone by using Fertilizer subsidy disbursement through blockchain technology. NITI Aayog & GNFC signed a statement of Intent to implement a proof-of-concept using the Blockchain technology. Farmers will be benefited as the process transparency is evident, transactions cannot be altered and digital fraud can be altered.

Agriculture JWG between Gujarat and Israel

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and Israel’s Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Uri Ariel and announced a joint working group in the fields of agriculture and allied sectors. The initiative is taken as a step to double the farmers’ income by 2022. This Agriculture Plan would also explore opportunities for using the hi-tech protective cultivation and precision farming methods of Israel.

SKY Scheme for farmers to generate solar power

The Gujarat government has launched a solar power scheme for farmers – Suryashakti Kisan Yojana (SKY). Under the scheme farmers would not only be able to generate electricity for their captive consumption but will also be able to sell the surplus power to the grid and earn an extra buck. The extra electricity given to grid would be purchased at a rate of ` 7 per unit for a period of 7 years.

World’s 1st Humanitarian Forensics Centre

The world’s 1st International Humanitarian Forensics Centre was launched at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It is a joint venture of International Committee of the Red Cross in India, Bhutan, Nepal and the Maldives. The Centre will conduct various academic and professional programmes, training, research and provide technical expertise to support operations in the field of humanitarian forensics.

Composite Water Management Index out

NITI Aayog has released a Composite Water Management Index (CWMI) of Indian states comprising 9 broad sectors with 28 different indicators covering various aspects. Gujarat topped the list while Jharkhand has been adjudged as the worst performer. Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra have been placed after Gujarat respectively.

Murali became 2nd fastest Indian in 10,000 m

Young long-distance runner Gavit Murali Kumar bagged a gold in men’s 10,000 m race at the Gouden Spike meeting in Leiden, Netherlands. He became the second fastest Indian in this event. The 21-year-old Kumar, a bright talent from Gujarat, clocked a personal best of 28 minutes 43.34 seconds, the best by an Indian in the ongoing season.
