No more sub-registrar`s offices to be setup

The govt. has decided in principle not to open anymore sub-registrars offices, C.Ve. Shanmugam, Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister, announced in the Assembly. Responding to a demand from have MLAs for new sub-registrars offices in their constituencies, the Minister said the state had the highest number of sub-registrars offices in the country considering its population. He said for a population of 7.28 crore, Tamil Nadu had 568 sub-registrars and joint registrars offices. But Uttar Pradesh had only 355, Gujarat 155, Karnataka 242 and Andhra Pradesh 232.
