Marine species identified in India

A marine museum with 150 specimens was inaugurated on the zoological survey of India (ZSI) premises in Chennai. It has 150 marine specimens, including dugong skeleton, different types of coral and model of sea horse. K. Venkataraman, Director ZSI, said 2.50 lakh marine species were found the world over of which 80,000 had been identified. In India, known for its marine diversity only 15,000 species had been identified.
