Ennore LNG terminal work set to gain momentum

Indian Oil Corpn’s project to set up a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Ennore, a facility that has potential to fuel industrial development in the state and parts of the region as well, is set to gain traction in a couple of months. Such a situation prevails, following the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest’s environmental and Coastal regulation zone clearance earlier this month, and the consequent decision to place before IOC Board the project update for approval. “It is a very important clearance” as only after this can work on the site begin. The next stage, by April, would be to get the Board’s approval afresh in the context of the clearance. An update on the land availability and cost-original estimate was ` 4,320 crore will be provided.
