CCTVs made mandatory in all schools

Concerned over the safety of children from trouble in schools, the State government has made it mandatory for all schools, including private institutions, to install closed circuit television (CCTV) units on their premises. As per an amendment brought to the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies (Installation of CCTV in Public Buildings) Rule 2012, all schools must flx CCTV units at multiple points – one per every 300 square metre – from where the movement of public could be closely monitored. Failure to comply with this would result in cancellation or suspension of licence or permission under relevant statutes.
