Sufficient number of textbooks printed

The Tamil Nadu Textbooks Corporation said that sufficient number of textbooks for 2012-13 have been printed and are being sold through retailers and the Corporation directly. Considering the requirements of Std. 10 and Plus Two, the Corporation made available the books even before the commencement of Classes. In the next phase, steps were taken to make available textbooks for students of classes of one to nine on the date of reopening of schools.

July 1 : Reigning World and European champions Spain retain the 2012 Euro Cup football title. In the final held in Kiev, Ukraine, they beat Italy 4-0.

International talks held in Geneva, Switzerland, to find a solution to the Syrian crisis, are dubbed a failure by all sides involved.

Western Ghats list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites

The Western Ghats makes it to the coveted list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. The number of Western Ghats sites inscribed in the list is 39, spread over 7,953.15 sq. km. These include tiger reserves, national parks, wildlife sancutaries, and reserved forests in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Kerala leads with 20 sites, followed by Karnataka with 10, Tamil Nadu five and Maharashtra four.
